This policy describes data handling by the Tengil Chrome extension, which provides transcript segments, sentence saving and replay for listening practice on YouTube. YouTube, Chrome Web Store and other third-party websites operate under their own privacy policies.
To provide its features, Tengil reads or stores locally:
These data support transcript display, learning records, replay and preference restoration. They are not used for advertising profiles. Tengil does not read the complete Chrome browsing-history database or ask for login passwords, payment information or precise location.
The current version stores learning data and preferences in chrome.storage.local within the current Chrome profile. It does not provide a Tengil account, publisher-operated cloud sync or transcript uploads to an AI service. Tengil does not send these learning data to a publisher server, sell or rent them, or share them for advertising.
Watching videos and accessing transcripts still involve YouTube's own network activity. This policy does not imply that YouTube or Chrome do not process data under their separate policies.
If you voluntarily contact support, we receive the email address, message and attachments you provide. We use them to respond and resolve your request. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary private information. We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to the request and maintain support records, then delete it when it is no longer needed, subject to legal obligations. Support messages may be processed by the email provider used to receive them.
Local learning data currently have no automatic expiration. They remain until you remove the relevant marks, clear extension storage or remove the extension from the Chrome profile. Removing an individual bookmark does not remove other transcript caches or settings. Disabling the extension does not delete its stored data.
You can remove saved sentences in Review and change preferences in settings. To clear all local extension data, use Chrome's extension removal flow; contact us if you need help. Information previously sent to support requires a separate deletion request, subject to applicable retention obligations.
